Lorenz Spechtenhauser completed his bachelor’s degree in Innsbruck and is currently a student engaged in the master’s program Medical Biology at the University of Salzburg, working on his master’s thesis at the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene with Prof. Prazeres da Costa’s group.
He is working on feto-maternal immune crosstalk following maternal infection with the helminth Schistosoma mansoni with the main focus on alterations in the dendritic cell compartment.
Originally, he is from a mountainous northern province in Italy called South Tyrol, where he was fortunate growing up speaking Italian as well as German. Since he grew up in the mountains, he loves hiking, but also other sports, such as soccer, climbing, tennis.
